Make Your Own Rosemary Salt Scrub

Many people ask me, which is best for their skin, a sugar scrub or a salt scrub to exfoliate? The answer depends on your skin type.

For those who have sensitive skin the best would be a sugar scrub, due to the sugar granules are round, versus the course shape of a granule of sea salt.

Salt scrubs are designed to exfoliate your skin better, removing the outermost layer of dead skin cells that shed every 30 days or so, leaving your skin softer and smoother.

In regions that have high humidity and heat like Hawaii, this is a product that I use from my neck down – gently.

Personally, I use 1 to 2 tablespoons of salt scrub once a month and apply it in a round circular motion while in the shower and then I go on with my normal shower. My body loves it, though each person’s skin type is different, and you must take that into consideration with any product you choose or make.

This salt scrub basic ingredients creates a delightful combination and work together to make my skin feel and look great.

My personal favorite is Rosemary Salt Scrub, which is made with Hawaiian Salt, Coconut Oil, Lemon & Rosemary (ground leaf & oil).

Here is my YouTube video:

Here is the recipe:

  • 1 cup of Hawaiian Salt (or other salt preference)
  • 1/3 cup of Coconut Oil
  • 1/2 – 1 teaspoon of Lemon Juice
  • 1 tablespoon of Rosemary Leaf dried and powdered (I use a coffee grinder to powder my herbs)
  • 5-10 Drops of Rosemary Essential Oil

This recipe can be changed out using sugar if you feel you have more sensitive skin or just would like a sugar rub.

Please put in an airtight glass container for storage between your uses.

For those who have sensitive skin, please consider both the coarseness of the salt and the lemon juice in the recipe, before making.

Enjoy these simple times as you pamper yourself!
